What's in your yoga bag??

Here's what you'll find in mine.

1. Ped-Egg - During my first trip to the Kenyan Bush my grandmothers-in-law couldn't believe it when I cut the bottom of my foot on a blade of wild African grass. They called me soft, and at the time they were right, the bottoms of my feet were as soft as a baby's behind, thanks to my bi-weekly pedicures. Were I to return to the bush today, I promise no one would be calling me soft. I can't begin to describe the damage my daily yoga practice and twice weekly teaching has done to my soles. For months I've been hiding my feet in socks and furry boots. Well now the flowers are blooming and it's time to let these doggies breathe. These days I can do so with confidence thanks to the Ped-Egg. Ladies (heck, gents too) do yourself a favor and get one of these. It works and is well worth the $10.00 investment, especially if regular pedicures are no longer in your budget.

Now & Zen Digital Alarm Clock - This alarm clock timer has taken up residence at the top of my wish list for about a year. Hopefully it'll relocate to my home yoga studio later this summer, hint hint. It is a little expensive, but if you have a regular meditation practice, I'm sure the beauty of an E tone chime is far more appealing than the Beyonce ring tone you're using now. Check out the website to hear what they sound like. Be sure to check out the Zen Doorbell too. LOVE IT!

Danskin Hooded Elbow Sleeve Tee - This is the perfect cover up for those days when it's too chilly to walk around in your yoga tank but too hot for a jacket. It's lightweight, breathable and cute, not to mention CHEAP. At just $6.00 you can buy one in every color and still have some money left over for to put toward those expensive name brand yoga pants.

Yoga Mat Bag - Now that I'm teaching, I've got a lot more "swag" to carry. Mat, chimes, ipod, books, chakra spray, you name it, I'm lugging it, in multiple bags no less. Until now. As soon as I saw this Gaiam Yoga Mat Bag I had to have it. I love the little bow accent in the front and it looks big enough to carry everything I need plus some. I'll let you know how it works out.

Until then, feel free to share your must have products for Spring.

Yoga on the White House Lawn!!

Way to go Obamas! Yoga on the White House Lawn, during the Easter holiday no less. Had I known I could get in a quick practice while my boy ran around with Sasha and Malia I would've tried a little harder to get tickets. Oh well, maybe next year. By the way, if the yoga practice becomes a regular part of the celebration let's hope the organizers look for a local studio to participate. With all of the wonderful yoga studios in Washington DC I find it hard to believe they needed to go all the way to California to find teachers worthy of the honor. (Not hating, just saying..).

Speaking of Yoga and the Obamas, looks like Bo-Bama may be getting in a few downward facing dogs this spring as well.
